Super rich

If you're looking to avoid tax legally, you're as well going to London as anywhere else."

The government doesn't issue figures on the movements of private wealth in and out of Britain, let alone offer guidance on how much is here already. The most recent numbers (from 2003) show Britain owning about £3.5trn worth of abroad, and abroad owning about £3.5trn worth of Britain. The figures haven't changed much from two years earlier; nor do they distinguish between businesses and individuals.

London's most expensive residential streets, such as Kensington Palace Gardens, offer a better guide to the changing nature of the private money flooding into the capital. Even 10 years ago it seemed likely that private residents would vanish from these gigantic, early-Victorian villas, unless they were turned into flats.

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE OTHERS TRYING TO ENTER THIS FIELD? Do this from the heart, make it something you love to do every day!

National award for Fargo recycling campaign

That's me and Harlan Fugelsten thanking Senator Conrad for his strong resolve for energy independence and to help make North Dakota the number one state for development of all our vast energy sources in a clean, sustainable, efficient manner.

Here's Senator Klobuchar giving the Tuesday keynote. She's also a strong proponant for energy independence and agriculture.

Here's Co-host ND Ag Commissioner Roger Johnson and Governor Hoeven.

If we continue to develop our home grown, renewable energy, North Dakota's future is so bright we have to wear shades! Here's Governor Hoeven being a good sport, Lance Gaebe and our new friend Dee at our ND Alliance for Renewable Energy display.

Here's the new Alliance for Defense manufacturers group headed up by Kristan Hedger of Killdeer Mountain Manufacturing working to stem the tide of business going to foreign manufacturing to build a coalition of area manufacturers to build more equipment right here in the United States. I asked them to also consider working together to build wind turbines right here as we make the towers, the blades, but the turbines have as much as a two year backlog and the largest projects have them tied up. Another opportunity from developing more of our home grown, terror free, renewable energy.

Drugstore Sales Droop in December

The three major drugstore chains reported December sales yesterday. Walgreen (NYSE: WAG), CVS (NYSE: CVS), and Rite Aid (NYSE: RAD) all bellied up to the bar with less-than-stellar sales results for the final month of 2007. How bad were they?

CVS and Walgreen hovered around 2% comps, while Rite Aid dipped slightly negative. The real story is comparing December numbers to prior trends, in this case, looking at the prior two months. All three companies were short of where they've been trending recently.

YESTERDAY’S RUMORS!

Trick Trick said that Eminem is not in need of Slim Fast. If you don't know, what Trick Trick says goes.

This is so silly, but Buck has rocked the same hairdo for the longest time, but I heard that he's made a change. Rumor has it, he has cut all his braided hair off for a shorter look. I think now is the time to say “Pause." (I know I vowed to stop, but it's a process.)

More on Buck. I heard his next CD won't have any people from G-Unit on it.

Like I said before Lola Luv Angel might have gotten some $1,000 shots in her butt…no implants. I still think – don't know – that it's implants gone wild.

Freeway is reportedly “free" from his link to The Roc and is headed over to G-Unit. Freeway might be an executive in this supposed G-Unit Philly that's coming up.

CU takes steps to fix potential transformer problem

Cleveland Utilities Electric Division is taking steps to deal with a potential problem with transformers at the utilitys East Cleveland Substation (and other transformers systemwide). CU

Electric Division Manager Dennis Daniel told the board of trustees Tuesday an elevated level of moisture was detected in the 161 kv delivery point transformers at the East Cleveland facility.

"This station, along with the South Cleveland Substation, supplies the entire electrical needs for our system and these transformers are our single biggest asset," said Daniel.

The Electric Division manager explained the transformers are filled with a very pure mineral oil and sealed. "A positive pressure of dry nitrogen is then added to prevent moisture from creeping into the windings," said Daniel.
