| Favoring stores, Dell closes mall kiosks
Dell Inc., which has been pushing its computers into more retail stores, said Wednesday it will close its 140 shopping mall kiosks in the United States. Dell now sells computers and other devices in more than 10,000 stores around the world, including Wal-Mart Stores Inc. and Best Buy Co. The kiosks, where customers could place orders for delivery, may be losing some of their novelty. Tony Weiss, the vice president of Dell's global consumer business, said closing the kiosks "fits in with how our broad global retail strategy is evolving." Dell began opening the kiosks in 2002 to boost sales of notebook computers, which didn't fit as well within the company's practice of selling directly to customers over the Internet and by phone. More than other customers, people considering notebooks wanted to see and feel the machines before buying them.

Online service allows shoppers to reserve merchandise at Sunrise Mall
On Friday, Charlotte Russe had an order to reserve a blue dress. Laura Pedraza, associate manager at the store, found the dress and set it aside for the customer. It was the first reservation for Charlotte Ruse merchandise through Sunrise Mall’s online shopping service, Pedraza said. Mall retailers expect that as word spreads about the new online shopping service it will become a popular option for shoppers. "It was easy," Pedraza said. "I just got the order, found the dress and saved it for the customer." Facility is part of the appeal, according to Veronica Baca-Martinez, marketing director for Sunrise Mall. Last month Sunrise Mall became the first mall in the Rio Grande Valley to offer shoppers the opportunity to search and reserve items online. NearbyNow Inc., a California-based company that develops Internet and mobile search technology for shopping centers and retailers to steer in-store traffic, powers the service.
Bill Graves: Costa Rica is billfishing paradise
To help keep the rod tip pointed toward the fast-fleeing fish, many anglers shun the fighting chair, carrying on the tug of war standing and moving back and forth along the stern transom using only a fighting belt to secure the rod butt. As the captain maneuvers the boat through the waves, forward and reverse at various points during the fray, it takes steady balance to stay upright and on board as the boat bounces one direction and a big fish surges another. First fish Once all the rods were in place after our 90 minutes of travel time, the next 90 minutes were consumed by the old watch-and-wait game common to so many outings. Even over the noise of the engine and splash of the hull through the swells, the sharp snap of the left, long outrigger line resounded as a fish struck the bait and jerked the monofilament from its retaining clip.

Thought you'd like this one. At church a few weeks back, a couple renewed their wedding vows to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. The preacher asked them where they were married. The groom replied "Saint So-and-sos. And a short time after our wedding the church burned down and the priest died." Without missing a beat my preacher said "Would you mind if we did this outside?" I had the luck of being at the Packer game last Sunday. What a game and what a day! After spotting the Seahawks 14-points, the Packers looked like an absolutely unstoppable team. And when that snow fell down, it was like being inside a snow globe, you couldn't see the people who were sitting in the stands on the other side of the stadium. But it wasn't cold! In fact, I kept my gloves off for most of the game.
