| Push-to-talk service gets pushed aside
Analysts say Telus' core target market has been largely tapped out, while growth in monthly customer bills has stalled. Other cellphone technologies now offer competing services, along with high-growth data applications. The glory days for this "legacy" technology appear to be in the past, and some believe its days may be numbered. .
Kohl's plots a comeback
PHOENIX, Ariz. When Kohl's stores first came to the Phoenix, Ariz., area four years ago, it was as if a dependable cousin from the Midwest had arrived. Shoppers swarmed the tan-colored big-box chain from Wisconsin for its sensibly priced jeans and bath towels. If they later saw a lower price on an item they'd already purchased, they could return it for a bigger discount. .

But he did vote to support the war. one of you said a man with vison. all us americans have visions. but that don't mean we can run for government positions. Wild Card/Vacation Day 11 of 12
Only two more shopping days until I return to the final days of the City Council campaigns. Then, we'll have fun taking apart the campaigns. Any dirt yet? Any mudslinging. You know, the good stuff. Or is everyone behaving? My wife is now looking over my shoulder -- literally -- so I have to pretend that I'm just checking ball scores. See ya in two days. Here's Wild Card ... .
Bells will be ringing
You know it's Christmastime when you hear the bells ringing and see the red kettles around town."The kettle is a holiday icon," Dawn Baskett of Dalton says. "I get a kick out of seeing those smiling faces beside the red pots when I'm running around at Christmastime. It puts a little extra pep in my step and raises my holiday cheer. I can't pass one by without giving something."That's what Maj. Henry Hunter, Corps officer for the Salvation Army in Whitfield and Murray counties, is counting on. "Community generosity is vital to our efforts to provide services, not only at Christmas time, but throughout the year. The kettles are our last thrust of the year at making people aware that we are on the front line," he said. The public's contributions to the kettles enables the Salvation Army to bring the spirit of Christmas to those who might otherwise be forgotten – to the aged and lonely, and to the poor and unfortunate.
